Bacteriological milk analysis automation

This process automation contributed to an important productivity increase in a milk quality analysis laboratory.Decuna automated the milk sampling for plate culture with existing equipment, implying an important cost save for the laboratory.

The racks with milk samples are loaded on the left side of the machine by the operators. The samples are conveyed to the centre, so that the pipette rack prepares the plates for culture.Once the culture samples are taken, the samples are transferred to the right side of the machine, ready to be unloaded..

Automatic sorting line for laboratory samples

Decuna delivered to a laboratory as a "key-in-hand" installation an automatic sorting line for milk samples. The project was managed end-to-end, from requirements capture, desing, manufacturing, integration and commissioning, including robot tooling desing and robot integration.

The sorting line is multi-purpose:

Steering wheel assembly machine and integrated tester

Steering wheel assembly line

While the final product (steering wheel) is assembled, a mechanic and electric test is being performed. The application also integrates with the ERP at the customer's site providing traceability information.

The tests to be performed are:

  • electrical contacts, continuity
  • horn
  • color,
  • product type,
  • element presence check
  • screw torque check

A barcode reader is veryfing product batch and sequence. The PanelPC is generating the production orders and ensuring product traceability

Similar machines were installed in other locations:

  • TRW Timisoara (Romania)
  • Dalphi Metal (Portugal)

Automated storage system for an automotive seat supplier

Transtocker

Decuna worked together with a counterpart responsible for mechanics developing an automated storage system for an automotive seat supplier.

An automated storage and retrieval machine and a buffer for the products were automated.

The system saves an important amount of storage space and allows our customer to meet not only "Just in Time" requirements, but also "Just in Sequence" (delivering the sequence that the OEM is going to build in the production line).

Automatic storage of tuna fish and alike

tuna clasifier

Customer: Pesquerías Fernández Ibañez (Vigo)

Decuna developed an automatic system to classify and store different kinds of tuna according to species and weight for our client, located at Vigo's harbour.

The system sorts out the fish in a high rack storage area, saving fish container information and piece information in a database. The weight is measured dynamically, without stopping the line.

A PC is used to monitorize the system, whereas a PLC controls the actuators.

Production data retrieval and customer ERP integration

Decuna integrated the data retrieval of statistic process control data (assembly control parameters and tolerances) in seven halfshaft assembly cells with the ERP at the customer's site.
There were controlled four operations in each machine. The information was distributed and stored in an Oracle database with Decuna applications.
Some PanelPCs were installed to monitorize the process and allow user interaction

Biomass plant automation

Automatización de plantas de biomasa

Decuna has build over the years its own "know-how" as an independent plant automation supplier.

We are not tied to any equipment manufacturer, so our independence can be a key factor to achieve customization, service and cost savings.

As a sample off our services, Decuna can provide systems that monitorize:

  • Electrical consumption
  • Energy production
  • Plant automation and electrical equipment

Visual grinding operation check with computer

Decuna developed a system with applied computer vision to check if the grinding operation was performed satisfactorily or not in the gear cages of the halfshafts.

The system has to be able to detect this in less that two seconds, because of strict operation cycle requirements. Nevertheless, the system could meet customer requirements.

Robotic Installation for automatic palletizing

Robot de paletizado automático

Decuna has developed a system that allows, on a completely automatic way, clasify and store all the client product references.

Having this goal in mind, 18 clasification lines were prepared (2 for rejected product, and the 16 left to feed the palletizing final system).

A codebar system with optical readers is being used to recognize and determine the nature of the product. Also, it makes a weight measure of every unit.

Four cells of automatic palletizing give a rate of 4000 boxes per hour.
